Input financing questions, answered
The details of how an input line of credit works, including what it covers, how fast you get a decision, and when you pay it back.
- What is an input line of credit?
- It is a seasonal input line of credit used to buy crop inputs at your retailer. You draw against the line as you take delivery through the season and pay it off after harvest.
- What can I buy with the line?
- Seed, chemistry, fertilizer, custom application, precision services, and anything that goes into the production of the crop for that given cropping season. The line is built for crop inputs only.
- What is not eligible?
- Land rent, cash rent and equipment are not eligible. This is an input line, not an operating line.
- Do I need financial statements?
- Not for requests under $150,000. Those lines are approved on your FICO score alone, with no tax returns, no balance sheet and no financial statements.
- How fast is a decision?
- FICO-only requests under $150,000 need nothing more than your FICO score, so the decision comes back right away. Larger requests get a full credit review sized to your acres and crop plan, with a decision typically back within 24 hours.
- How do draws work?
- Your retailer will draw on your input line for the purchases you want put on it. You will receive an email notification each time a draw takes place. Interest accrues on the funds actually drawn, not on your full limit.
- Can I add passes during the season?
- Yes. You can add in-season applications up to your credit limit without reopening an application.
- When do I pay it back?
- One scheduled payoff date after harvest, aligned to your marketing plan, instead of monthly amortization.
- Do manufacturer programs apply?
- Yes. Buydowns and special terms funded by your suppliers apply automatically at the point of sale, so program pricing shows up at the counter.
- Are there promotional interest rates or buydown programs?
- Yes. Promotional interest rates and buydown programs may be sponsored by participating retailers or manufacturers. These programs are applied at the point of sale and can reduce your cost of borrowing for qualifying inputs. Ask your retailer or manufacturer representative which programs are available for your crop plan.
- How do I apply?
- Use the Apply Now button on your retailer's page. Most growers finish the secure application in under fifteen minutes.
